Scania is a global company with 45,000 employees in more than 100 countries. The aim is to develop high-quality products and solutions for specific customer demand with short lead times from idea to launch. From its foundation in 1891, Scania’s culture of continuous innovation has made it one of the world’s leading manufacturers of heavy trucks and buses. As of today all Scania vehicles are connected when leaving the factory and a basic free telematic subscription comes with the sale of all heavy trucks. Today there are over 180,000 vehicles with an active subscription.
Create a solution using vehicle data available through the industry standardized remote fleet management interface, rFMS, for one or more of these actors: the driver, the haulier, the transport/logistics company or the transport buyer. To be successful you will need to find innovative or novel ways of using the vehicle data to enable the truck driver; the haulier; the transport company or the transport buyer to lower the environmental impact of transports. Your solution should minimize the impact of the individual transport and the transports done by a fleet of vehicles. You are welcome to use the IBM Bluemix tool to create your prototype.
